Max Megatron 2200 PRO Repair - The Megatron 2200 PRO and 2200 HP PRO are the heaviest swing operators in the line, rated for 2,500 lb at 15 ft or 1,800 lb at 20 ft per leaf, on the same brushless 24V DC platform with UL 325 classes I through IV and 11.5 to 18 second travel. These go on solid steel and heavy ornamental gates, and on commercial entrances where the leaf is genuinely massive.

On gates this heavy the operator is rarely the first thing to fail. Hinges, posts and gate frames take the load, and a post that has shifted even slightly will make the operator work far harder than it was rated for. We check the gate before we condemn the operator, because replacing a Megatron that was only ever fighting a dropped hinge is an expensive way to not fix the problem.

Max 1500 PRO Repair - The Max 1500 PRO is the slide operator we see most on Bay Area residential and light commercial gates. It handles 1,500 lb on gates up to 25 ft, runs a brushless DC motor equivalent to a half horsepower AC unit through a heavy duty cast iron 30 to 1 direct drive gearbox, and moves 12 inches per second across UL 325 classes I, II, III and IV. Power is switchable between 115 VAC at 6 amps and 230 VAC at 2 amps. It is UL 325 and 991 compliant and CSA approved, and the battery backup module gives roughly 200 cycles with three selectable backup modes.

Direct drive is the detail that matters at repair time. With no chains, belts or pulleys inside the gearbox, a Max 1500 that is straining or stalling is almost always fighting something outside itself: worn V-groove rollers, a rusted track, a bent rack, or a gate post that has settled. Fix that and the operator usually has years left.

Max 1700 FS PRO Repair - The Max 1700 FS PRO is the high traffic slide operator, built for gated communities, commercial and industrial sites and public storage. It moves 1,700 lb gates up to 40 ft at 12 inches per second, with 16 selectable speeds, on a brushless DC motor equivalent to a 1 and 1/4 horsepower AC unit with Hall Effect sensing and adaptive DSP motion control. It is UL 325 and 991 compliant across classes I through IV and CSA approved, with a solar ready battery module that has a built in solar regulator and a mechanical release so the gate can be pushed back in an emergency.

These units cycle hundreds of times a day, so we treat them differently from a residential gate. Service intervals matter, and the cheapest thing a property manager can do is have the chain tension, rack wear, roller condition and loop detectors checked on a schedule rather than waiting for the gate to strand residents at a closed entrance.

Maximum Controls repair questions we get asked

What does it mean when a Max operator opens but will not close?
Almost always a safety device, not the operator. UL 325 makes the gate refuse to close on a blocked or faulty photo eye or safety edge, and the Max Edge and Wireless Edge 900 are common culprits once water gets into them. The controller will show which input is holding the gate.

Are Max operators worth repairing rather than replacing?
Usually yes, and more so than most brands. The brushless motors and cast iron direct drive gearboxes outlast the electronics, so a controller or battery module replacement often returns a ten year old Max operator to full service for a fraction of a new install.

How long does the Max battery backup last?
The battery module gives roughly 200 cycles on a 1500 or 2200 PRO in normal condition. When cycles drop noticeably during an outage, the module is at end of life, typically after three to five years here.

Can you fix an Aeromax intercom that has gone quiet or crackly?
Yes. Long range wireless intercoms lose range as antennas corrode, batteries age or new obstructions appear between the gate and the house. We test signal at both ends before replacing anything, because a repositioned antenna often solves it.
